It is the leading cause of surgical site infections in the U.S. and is increasingly resistant to multiple antibiotics. Articles in this issue discuss the pathogenesis and epidemiology of S. aureus, antimicrobial resistance, specific types of staph infections, and treatment and prevention strategies.
