With its clear focus on diagnosis and treatment, this point-of-care reference brings evidenced-based, clinically actionable information to the front lines of primary care. The free, PocketConsult handheld software package provides all the clinical text from the book. Illustrations from the book are also available in an electronic format for optional download.

Reviews

Doody's Rating: * * *
This book, rich with high quality photography, serves as a reference for primary care practitioners in the care of their patients with ocular complaints. For convenience, this edition contains software that can be downloaded to a PDA.

It is targeted at any clinician, in practice or training, involved in direct patient care. The book intends to help the user recognize ophthalmic disease, treat the problem, or refer to the specialist, as appropriate. As primary care clinicians are likely to encounter many complaints related to eye disease, a better understanding and familiarity with the scope of potential problems is very useful. The authors do a good job of presenting the information in a practical way.
Weighted Numerical Score: 86

REVIEW OF THE LAST EDITION -
"[When] judged by the criteria of utility, relevance and completeness... [this book is] clearly the best..." Family Medicine

"This is a very useable, good-value and readable reference with good photographic illustrations. Its main role would be in general practice but emergency departments would also find it useful."

Malcolm J. Burvill. MJA, June 2006
